Bridge Strengthening System Gains Bs Approval

01 January 2004

Lindapter's 'Shear Strength' system, which has been successfully applied
in the strengthening of the Seedhill Canal Bridge in Nelson, Lancashire,
has gained BS 5400: Part 5: 1979 compliance. Consisting of a conventional
M20 Hollo-Bolt and novel setscrew, the Shear Strength system is suitable
for fixing to cavity steel structures, which are accessible from one side
only. No welding or strapping is required; Hollo-Bolt can be used with
either shop or site drilled holes.
