Mark Manasas to lead Cambridge Consultants' Surgical & Interventional Products Group

Cambridge Consultants has appointed Mark Manasa as manager of the Surgical & Interventional Products Group at the company’s Cambridge, Mass. office. In this role, Manasas will lead a team of engineers and scientists in designing and developing surgical and therapeutic products for preoperative, perioperative and postoperative procedures as well as developing and improving manufacturing processes for these products.
“Based on Mark’s deep technology expertise and successful track record of bringing surgical devices through clinical trials to market, we are thrilled to expand his leadership role at Cambridge Consultants,” said Pamela McNamara, President of US Operations. “Given Mark’s experience and our location in Boston, a major center for academic and medical research, we are poised to develop exciting new technology for the surgical industry, and hope to play a significant role in emerging fields such as active implantables.”

Manasas was previously project manager at Cambridge Consultants, joining the company in 2005, where he has developed work programmes and built and managed highly successful project teams for medical companies in the areas of cardiac assist, cardiac rhythm management, obesity, GORD, glucose monitoring, electrosurgery and drug delivery.
Prior to joining Cambridge Consultants, Manasas was President of Manasas R&D, a design consultancy providing medical device development services. Other notable positions include his role as Vice President of Engineering at Fossa Medical, Inc., a startup company developing urology devices, and project engineer and manager work at Johnson & Johnson Orthopedics. He holds a bachelor’s and master’s degrees in mechanical engineering from the University of Massachusetts, Amherst and Worcester Polytechnic Institute respectively. Manasas is named as an inventor on nine US patents for devices, instrumentation and materials.
