Reduced Cabling For Hazardous Area Monitoring

01 September 2000

Pepperl + Fuchs GB has introduced a dual channel, galvanically isolated
barrier that can monitor two field switches in a hazardous area with only
two wires and no common return line. In its simplest connection, the four
individual output relays are controlled by their four input switches or
sensors using only four wires. The KFD2-SRA-Ex4 has full lead break and
lead short circuit monitoring, the fault being indicated by individual
LEDs on the barrier and, if the method of power supply allows it, by a
signal fed to the power rail.
