Harvard Engineering establishes European base in France

14 April 2010

Harvard Engineering, a manufacturer of lighting ballasts, has established a European presence in France. The facility, based in St Georges-les-Baillargeaux, near Tours in France, will spearhead the company’s strategy to grow the business across continental Europe.

In charge of the office, as Director of Business Development is Peter McDonnell (pictured) who will promote the company's products, including the CoolLED range of switchable drivers and LeafNut, a novel wireless remote monitoring system for street lighting.

CoolLED drivers provide a high performance solution for powering high-brightness LEDs from a mains supply. The high efficiency design ensures cool operation and long life. CoolLED drivers are designed to bring LED drivers to the same standard as high spec HID ballasts, offering 89 per cent efficiency at full load with a high power factor of 0.98 and surge protection of 4kV.

In March 2010, Harvard’s CoolLED switchable drivers won the prestigious Lighting Design Award for Light Sources and Control Gear.
