Roger Cashmore becomes chairman of the UK Atomic Energy Authority

Business Secretary Vince Cable has announced the appointment of Roger Cashmore (pictured) as chairman of the United Kingdom Atomic Energy Authority. Professor Cashmore is the Principal of Brasenose College, Oxford, and the current chairman of the Nuclear Research Advisory Council of the Ministry of Defence.
He has formerly been the Director of Research and Deputy Director General of CERN, the European Laboratory for High Energy Physics as well as chairman of The Royal Society’s Working Group on the issues of nuclear non-proliferation and a member of the European Commission Fusion Facilities Review Panel.
Business Secretary Vince Cable thanked the outgoing chairwoman, Lady Barbara Thomas Judge for her long standing contribution to the Authority.
