Custom options for Pittman brush and brushless dc motors

13 August 2010

A variety of custom options can be specified to tailor Pittman brush-commutated and brushless dc motors for particular applications. Every Pittman motor can be customised to create the optimum motor for the given specifications, including the addition of spur or planetary gearboxes to increase torque and decrease speed; rear-mounted power-off and power-on electromagnetic brakes as safety and energy-saving features delivering enhanced holding capacity; incremental optical encoders for precision motion-control applications to supply accurate feedback on position, velocity, acceleration, and direction; and modified motor shafts with a flat, journal, cross hole, keyway, slot, groove, gear, pulley, or any combination.

Designers can tailor motor voltage, speed, continuous torque, and other parameters, and specially configure motors to accommodate unusual design envelopes or mounting challenges and otherwise adapt to an application.
