External gear pumps in a variety of options to meet your needs

19 August 2010

The range of external gear pumps developed by Micropump is available from Michael Smith Engineers. Nine pumps cover flow rates from just ml/h rates up to 40 litre/min at maximum discharge pressures between 5.2 and 8.5bar, depending on the model and pumped fluid. Users can also specify a pump for their particular application. For example, pumps are available in a choice of materials, including stainless steel and Hastelloy-c, while a range of different gear materials can be specified to best suit the liquid being pumped and the duty parameters. Pumps can also be supplied with different porting arrangements.

All models have magnet drives, ensuring zero-leakage of the process fluid. The external gear design provides the benefit of a smooth, pulse-free and highly accurate output, so the distribution of the process liquid is even and constant, as opposed to more unpredictable pulsed flows from other types of pump.

Micropumps feature an internal pressure loaded suction shoe that allows them to self-compensate for wear and to maintain high volumetric efficiency, even at high operating pressures. In addition, by reducing the number of parts needed for operation to an absolute minimum, the suction shoe design minimises downtime and simplifies servicing.
