A reliable transmission coupling for modern baking machines

02 September 2010

Schmidt Kupplung has developed a modified version of its Loewe GK series transmission couplings for the baking industry. Rack ovens, with rotating racks and turntables, ensure a uniform baking quality. The racks are delivered to the oven in a hygienic manner and are then placed in the rotating mechanism by a lifting device. The axially stiff coupling designed for this machine has a special spigot shaft design (shown in this exploded view), allowing the inserted racks to be lifted and turned.

The Loewe GK steel coupling offers generous compensation for angular and radial misalignment, while at the same time resisting axial motion. This axial stiffness facilitates the transmission of push and pull loads.

This compact couplings combine the features of a single universal joint (angular misalignment capacity, axially fixed) with a coupling (radial misalignment capacity). The crossed pins slide easily in the bearings, which allow a pivotal and radial displacement of the two hubs with low side and bearing loads.
