New RFID system aids authorised machine operator identification

09 September 2010

B&R Industrial Automation has introduced an ISO 14443 and ISO 15693 compatible RFID system that can be used to provide authorised user access to machine control systems. Fast and secure user identification at the user interface is essential in order to prevent unauthorised access to critical manufacturing control systems. B&R's new system requires the user to place his or her tag within centimetres of the device, ensuring no unintentional identification of an operator who is simply passing by.

The compact design and prefabricated USB cable ensures a protection level of up to IP69K. This eliminates the need for additional protective covers, making any later installations much easier.

The RFID units are easy to install and easily integrated within a cabinet door or operating unit housing using a 22.5 mm standard cutout.
