Multi-function terminal blocks from Weidmuller are space-saving and versatile

09 September 2010

The WMF family of multi function terminal blocks from Weidmuller enable simple and precise routing and distribution of signals in process plants and power generation facilities. With a width of just 5mm, these space-saving terminal blocks combine different functions in a single module, including feed-through, fusing and disconnects.

Other features include an integrated shield or PE connection, three cross-connection channels as well as facilities to accommodate pre-assembled cable sets terminated in BLZ connectors. The connection system can accommodate solid and flexible conductors between 0.5 - 4 mm2, stranded conductors between 1.5 - 4 mm2 and conductors with ferrules between 0.5 - 2.5 mm2

WMF terminal blocks feature vibration-proof and maintenance-free clamping yoke (screw) connections, and benefit from an extensive range of identification marking options. A range of accessories can also be used to adapt WMF products to specific application requirements, including SIHA 3 fuse holders for 5 x 20 fuse cartridges.

The black-coloured fuse terminals are equipped with a new pivoted fuse holder; changing fuses is now a simple and safe procedure, as they can be quickly replaced when the rotatable holder is open and facing upwards. An optional LED status indicator on the fuse terminal indicates clearly whether the fuse is serviceable or defective.

WMF terminal blocks are made from WEMID, a special thermoplastic from Weidmüller that offers an enhanced continuous operating temperature of 120°C (compared with 100°C for PA 66). At the same time it exhibits improved fire resistance performance (flammability class V0 (PA 66: V2) in accordance with UL 94.
