Gus Desbarats is elected chairman of British Design Innovation

Gus Desbarats has been elected chairman of British Design Innovation. An RCA educated automotive designer with degrees in mechanical engineering and systems engineering, Mr desbarats is chairman of award-winning international design consultancy TheAlloy, whose clients include Bic, BT, Dixons, Hasbro, Hewlett-Packard, Intel, M&S, Toshiba, Virgin Atlantic and Yorkshire Water.
British Design Innovation (BDI) is the trade membership organisation representing many of the UK’s leading strategic industrial and service design professionals. They deliver experience-led design interventions that improve brands and the effectiveness of innovation. BDI members share 3,000 years of IP commercialisation experience that has generated over £1 billion in revenues for organisations of all sizes, in all markets.
Mr Desbarats formally takes up his duties as BDI chairman at the organisation’s national board meeting this month. “A key priority for me will be to improve our internal communications in both directions,” he said. “I want to ensure that members, who own the organisation, are fully aware of what is being done on their behalf, and give them a stronger voice in deciding the collective activities we should focus on.”
