Door opening pushbuttons meet TSI-PRM standards
21 December 2010
EAO's Series 56 pushbuttons for transport door operation now features symbols that are raised more than 1mm from the surface and are larger than 15mm wide, providing improved usability and visibility for disabled passengers. It also features a brightly lit and highly recognisable ‘Door open’ or ‘Door close’ symbol to aid passengers finding the door control more easily. Additional luminance is provided by a bright LED halo around the pushbutton’s actuator – green, blue, or yellow.

A large thermoplastic bezel, which is available in many colours, is fitted around the actuator to provide visual contrast with the surface on which it is mounted. These bezels are also available with Braille legends additionally assisting visually impaired individuals. As well, low actuation force, short travel, and snap action contacts offer good tactile feel to further support disabled users.
Series 56 pushbuttons operate in extreme temperature conditions from -49º up to +176ºF. They are environmentally sealed to IP 67 at the front and to IP 65 in the rear of the switch, RoHS approved, and meet many of the required international electrical standards. All materials used meet the rail industry’s expectations of quality, reliability, durability, and design. The new version matches the design and dimensions of previous, and can be retrofitted into the existing mounting holes. EAO is International Railway Industry Standard (IRIS) certified.
