A low noise output solenoid valve for medical devices

19 January 2011

A compact, high density interface (HDI) 3-way solenoid valve for controlling gas or air flows in medical devices has been introduced by Lee Products. The valve operates with noise levels 50% less compared with other types of solenoid valves, which produce a clicking sound when energised. Lee's new HDI valve has a synthetic hydrocarbon fluid in the wetted section of the valve and this effectively dampens the sound level of the component to less than 37 dBA (10Hz at 24in distance).

Available in face mount, plug-in and ported configurations, the quiet operation HDI weighs less than 4.5g and is suitable for medical applications, including dialysis machines, patient monitors, ventilators, respirators and other bedside medical devices.
