MiniTec UK supplies football dugouts for 2011 Asian World Cup competition
21 January 2011
In a departure from 'business as usual', the Basingstoke based machine framing designer and manufacturer MiniTec UK Limited, has supplied and commissioned all of the team and 4th official dugout shelters for the Asian Cup football competition that runs during January 2011 in Qatar. The competition, staged by the Asian Football Confederation, includes sixteen national teams from all over Asia, including Australia, South Korea and Japan, with many Barclays Premier League players in attendance.

Whilst the host nation might be a tiny country on the world map it certainly punches well above its weight for sporting endeavours, having staged the 2006 Asian Games and now confirmed as the venue for the 2022 FIFA World Cup.
MiniTec first ventured into the sports shelter market in 2006, using its modular Profile System to build FA standard dugouts customised in blue and gold livery for its local team Basingstoke Town FC, who play in the Blue Square South League. Whilst normally used for machine frames, workbenches, guard systems, conveyors and even complete automated production lines, the durable and modular extruded aluminium profile framing system can equally be applied to architectural applications such as sports dugouts or outside shelters.
Profile System offers complete flexibility in design using MiniTec's own innovative CC-Assembler CAD and parts listing/pricing platform, or may be used in combination with all major CAD programs with over fifty 2D and 3D CAD formats available. Structures can include acrylic panels with customised colours and logos as well as the ability to apply complex curves to the extruded profile for aesthetic and practical design variation.
As you might expect from an oil-rich nation which has one of the highest GDP per capita in the world, the dugout shelters for this competition are rather special. MiniTec has designed, built and installed dugouts in all five stadiums used for the Asian Cup Finals. Each stadium has two 23-seat team shelters and a mobile 4th Official 4-seater shelter which all include colour coded and club branded Cobra race-car leather seats.
For the showcase Khalifa Stadium, where the finals will be held on January 29th, an extra elaborate shelter design (illustrated) includes additional curved Profile System rails for the roof-line and gold plated minarets which reflect a classical Arabic architectural styling against the backdrop of the magnificent 40,000 seat stadium.
