HepcoMotion wins third Employer of the Year regional award

26 January 2011

Tiverton-based HepcoMotion has been crowned Employer of the Year 2010 at the City of Bristol College Apprenticeship Awards Ceremony. Part of the citation ran: ‘The focus of this award was the continuous development of the HepcoMotion team over the years with particular emphasis placed on apprentices who are now in management positions within the organisation.’ This is the third Employer of the Year award won by the company.

HepcoMotion has supported the modern apprenticeship scheme since 1993, a positive move to bridge the engineering skills gap. Indeed the company has achieved its high reputation on the world stage largely due to the quality of its staff so investment in apprenticeships continues to make sound business sense.

As noted by the award judges, several of the HepcoMotion apprentice-trained engineers have risen through the ranks to hold many key roles within the organisation. They are now pursuing careers in various departments including production, quality control, engineering support and international sales.

The City of Bristol College currently boasts more than 1,500 apprenticeship students across a wide range of professions.  At the award ceremony, the College’s Contracts Manager, Claire Arbery said: “More employers than ever are recognising the benefits of taking on apprentices, not only for the individual, but also for their own business. Our awards evening is a chance to celebrate the commitment of our apprenticeship students as well as the quality of the invaluable support they receive from their employers.”

Bob Gregory, the training manager at HepcoMotion, received the Employer of the Year Award on the company’s behalf. Mr Gregory (second left) is pictured here with Bush, Troy & Paulina from Heart Radio (Somerset/Bath/Bristol)
