Beryllium Copper Wire In Runnable Format

01 October 1999

Recently appointed European stockist and distributor for Little Falls
Alloys of the USA, William Hughes can supply Beryllium copper in coils,
on spools or in straight lengths with many sizes available off-the-shelf.
The wire can be pre-coated by electro-plating or hot-dipping. The
material takes three forms: Alloy 25 Beryllium copper is an age hardening
alloy that attains the highest strength of any copper based alloy. It is
used when copper is required for corrosion resistance, electrical or heat
conductivity, non-magnetic behaviour and where a steel-like strength is

Tempered Beryllium copper in Alloy 25 has been age hardened, cold drawn
and developed to supply the spring industry with a wire that could be
used on conventional coiling equipment to produce springs to close
tolerances without the necessity for heat treatment. Alloy 10 Beryllium
is an age hardenable copper base alloy whose combination of high
conductivity and strength has found application in current-carrying
springs, contacts and similar components. It is used in flexible cable
and conductors as it has better endurance properties than more conductive
