William Hughes puts Zwick to the test

The 200 year old spring manufacturer, William Hughes has installed a Zwick 100kN capacity tensile testing machine, incorporating a Macro extensometer and testXpert ll software, at its Dorset site. The company's decision to purchase was based on technical advice offered by Zwick, coupled with recommendations from other major spring manufacturers, who also use Zwick equipment. William Hughes supplies parts to companies such as Delphi Diesel Systems, Lear Corporation and Johnson Controls.

WIlliam Hughes is a volume supplier of product to demanding customers in the automotive and aerospace industries. In recent years it has invested at a rate in excess of 10% of turnover to ensure that it can provide an excellent working environment equipped with the latest manufacturing equipment.
Until recently, the company had depended on subcontract testing services to monitor and maintain the quality of its processes and end products. Testing has now been brought in-house in order to improve knowledge of material characteristics and enhance customer service.
