New motion control products from Delta Line

22 June 2011

New from specialist distributor Delta Line are three products that will be of interest to designers of motion, actuation and positioning systems. These include the Nanotech SMCI 36 motor controller, the DPM-63S10 'ultraflat' stepper motor and the new EtaCrown 75 crown geared motor assembly from Zeitlauf.

Nanotec's SMCI36 motor controller, featuring dspDrive and ClosedLoop, is suitable for designers seeking quick, compact and energy-efficient products for distributed applications. ClosedLoop provides energy-efficient motor control, and with the CANopen based, field-oriented system, expensive geared servomotor systems can be replaced with more favourably-priced stepper motors for applications involving rotational speeds of up to 1,500rpm and 10Nm maximum torque.

The new SMCI36 controller comes with a ClosedLoop-capable encoder input (the stator magnetic field is controlled via the rotary encoder, as with a servomotor) and the stepper motor will remain in sync all the way up to its maximum torque. The current magnitude is continually adjusted according to the instantaneous torque, substantially reducing current consumption and heat dissipation compared with conventional stepper motor controllers.

The use of dspDrive technology ensures quiet-running  and low-vibration - essential requirements for medical devices, laboratory automation, optical instruments and so on.

The ultraflat, high torque DPM-63S10 stepper motor, featuring a step angle of 1.8°, will be of interest to designers seeking maximum torque and high positional accuracy combined with minimum overall height. When operated in microstep, this product can achieve positional accuracy to <0.02° and with the right driver it can even run as a brushless motor.

Thanks to the high torque, exceptional speed stability is possible at low speeds, in some cases avoiding the need for a gearboxe. At high speeds, powers of up to 50W can be achieved with short power-up time.

Also new from Delta Line is the EtaCrown 75, a high performances crown geared motor assembly from Zeitlauf, which is suitable for conveyor drives, door actuation systems or medical applications. EtaCrown 75 is an ideal alternative to worm or bevel spur gear driven units, offering an efficiency of up to 95%; extremely smooth running and extended life.

The EtaCrown 75 is available as a standard product in one or two stages and with ratios from 4.1 to 113:1. A large variety of combinations are possible as it can be associated to several motor technologies such as dc, brushless dc and ac motors, and can be equipped with additional components such as brakes or encoders – all available within 48 hours from Delta Line's warehouse.
