Precision motor manufacturer celebrates 50th anniversary
12 August 2011
maxon motor celebrates its 50th anniversary this year, marking a half-century journey of technological innovation – from electric shavers to the surface of Mars. The Swiss company began life as Interelectric Sachseln AG in 1961, producing products for Braun Electric Razors – notably the dc motor and the shaving foil. From these relatively humble origins, the business made a defining switch in 1968 to developing tiny dc motors with ironless rotors, and doubling their efficiency.

Since then, the company has consistently been at the forefront of innovation, pushing boundaries in terms of size, reliability and performance of all its components. Fifty years on, maxon motors can be found in a huge variety of applications, from high temperature subsea drilling to two generations of NASA Mars Rovers.
To celebrate the company’s journey so far, maxon motor uk is running a competition, the winner of which will receive an Apple iPad 2. To enter, you will need to fill out a short online survey, which can be found here.
