22 September 2011
XP Power's new VEH series of low cost 'green' single output, external ac-dc power supplies is aimed at high volume, cost sensitive applications. The series covers five power levels, providing 20, 40, 60, 90 or 120W outputs, and catering for the popular nominal output voltages from +12 to +48Vdc. VEH is up to 89% efficient and meets the requirements of global energy efficiency standards such as EISA2007, CEC2008 and the European ErP Directive for a no-load power consumption of less than 0.5W.

In addition, the VEH20, VEH40 and VEH120 units achieve a no-load consumption of less than 0.3W. The VEH20, VEH40 and VEH60 are also approved as a Limited Power Source (LPS).
All models meet the internationally recognized safety approval standards for IT and commercial equipment IEC/UL/EN/CSA 60950-1. The VEH60 series is also approved with China Compulsory Certification (CCC). All ranges meet EN55022 Class B limits for both conducted and radiated emissions.
Class I construction is standard on all models, and Class II construction is available on the 20W model, along with an IEC320-C8 input connector. The VEH20 and VEH60 are also available with an optional IEC320-C6 input connector.
In addition to this low cost series of external power supplies, XP Power manufactures and sells the largest range of external / desktop power supplies in the industry. Six additional unique series with output power ratings from 8 to 250 Watts are available for all types of applications including those requiring medical safety approvals.
To help designers keep up to date with the changing energy efficiency legislation, XP Power provides a number of useful resources and information on its website.
The VEH series is available from Farnell or direct from XP Power.
