The new Modlink MPV switch cabinet coupling from Murrelektronik is a pluggable bus and power connection that extends from the control cabinet to the field. The option of using pre-wired and tested standard cables keeps costs down.

The high IP65 protection class makes it possible to have permanent connections between the switch cabinet and field components with the control cabinet closed. The switch cabinet coupling has a modular design. It consists of single and double frames and connector inserts such as M12, 7/8", RJ 45 or a dummy insert for sealing off unused frame openings. Machined dummy inserts can also be equipped with different M12 flanged sockets (e.g. M12, 6-pin, Cube67).
The frames can be individually equipped with many different insert combinations depending on requirements. The inserts are simply inserted into the frame, which is attached to the outside of the control cabinet. The single frame is oriented to standard size 6 cut-outs, and the double frame is oriented to standard size 24 cut-outs. The latter is provided as standard by control cabinet builders (heavy connectors).
The use of angled inserts and frames provides a smooth, offset cable outlet, also when angular connectors are used. The modularity of the switch cabinet coupling makes it possible to have customer-specific interface configurations, makes retrofitting and conversion easier and allows the configuration to be finalized at a later date. An intelligent ordering system that allows items to be ordered as a set with just one item number considerably reduces the cost of administration and logistics. This does not just make it possible to connect the control cabinet to the field environment without problems, but also makes the cables easier to access.
