One hundred per cent clean – a passive distribution box in stainless steel
30 September 2011
It is made of stainless steel, without grooves or indentations, and it’s easy to clean. The new distribution box from Murrelektronik is constructed to meet the demands of the food & beverage industry, and features eight M12 ports. The housing is cast from a single piece of stainless steel, to produce a simple design with rounded edges and no surface pockets, grooves or indentations to which food particles can adhere. All gaskets are fissure-free.
As a smooth and sealed surface is part of Murrelektronik's hygienic design, an LED status display is not included in the box itself. These are housed in the connectors. Murrelektronik offers M12 steel connectors with integrated LED for the food & beverage industry.
Continuity of hygienic design is also to be found in the mounting bracket arrangement, which ensures the correct mounting distance is achieved while allowing sufficient room for cleaning. A light grey cable that repels dirt and is resistant to common cleaning agents is also included. This feeds into the distribution box via a newly developed stainless steel gland.
The distribution boxes meet all requirements and directives regarding the cleaning of components in process plant applications (Machinery Directive 2006/42/EC, DIN EN 1672-2-2005, EHEDG Documents 8 and 13).
