Pilz gains full accreditation to provide machinery safety skills training in UK

04 October 2011

Pilz Automation Technology has been awarded full accreditation as a skills training provider by The National Skills Academy for its 1, 2 and 4-day City & Guilds Machinery Safety Courses. These courses are accredited across all nine industries under the Proskills UK Group, including paper, print, glass, coatings, wood, ceramics, building products, furniture, extractive and mineral processing industries.

Pilz’s 4-day City & Guilds Machinery Safety Course provides attendees with the knowledge that will help them to demonstrate a level of competency in machinery safety. It is suitable for people who have responsibility for existing or new machinery, including maintenance engineers, engineering/project managers, design engineers and manufacturers. Pilz also offers a 2-day course aimed specifically at managers and a 1-day course for supervisors. Both cover the application of EU Regulations and standards for machinery safety, explaining the responsibilities for managers and supervisors under the current legislation.

Proskills UK Group comprises Proskills UK, the Sector Skills Council for the Process & Manufacturing sector and the National Skills Academy for Materials, Production & Supply. Together, these bodies represent the interests of 9 key industries that make up a third of the UK manufacturing sector.

Proskills UK is an employer-led organisation that represents the interests of the industries that make up the process and manufacturing sector. Proskills UK is responsible for ensuring that the current skills and funding systems deliver against the needs of its employers. Proskills also develops the standards and qualifications that the industries’ employees undertake. This involves researching the needs and trends of industry and articulating these into relevant training solutions.

There are around 200 training providers on Proskills ‘Course Finder’ database; gaining accreditation places Pilz in an elite category of just 35 accredited training providers that have been quality approved.
