Miniature couplings for medical applications

18 October 2011

Ruland offers miniature rigid couplings for a wide variety of medical devices, including test and measurement systems, imaging, patient positioning, and liquid handling such as chromatography. Rigid couplings are zero-backlash, torsionally stiff, and have high torque capacity. They should be used when shaft misalignment is neither present nor desired, with the rigid coupling often used to help establish the alignment.

Ruland rigid couplings feature precision honed bores on straight bore couplings for improved fit and straightness as well as Nypatch treated hardware that resists loosening in high vibration conditions. Rigid couplings with bore sizes as small as 3mm are available in carbon steel, high grade aluminium for low inertia and 303 stainless steel.

All Ruland products are RoHS and REACH compliant. Miniature rigid couplings are part of Ruland’s complete product line which includes shaft collars, rigid couplings and five types of flexible couplings with zero-backlash: beam couplings, bellows couplings, oldham couplings, disc couplings, and curved jaw couplings.

Shown here is a precision honed, two-piece rigid coupling from Ruland with Nypatch treated hardware that resists loosening under vibration.
