New Kollmorgen frameless, brushless motor family offered by Micromech
25 October 2011
A new family of Kollmorgen frameless, brushless motors is now available from Micromech in fourteen sizes for low or high voltage operation, delivering high torque density for small footprint applications. Features of the new KBM motor range include smooth rotation with minimal cogging, low total harmonic distortion and a broad operating speed range with rapid acceleration.
Capable of being directly coupled to the load, KBM motors offer benefits over traditional mechanical transmission systems by eliminating the compliant components of the system, such as gearboxes, timing belts and pulleys. The level of efficiency is also claimed to be at least 10% greater than that of mechanically coupled systems using gearboxes and timing belts.
Frame sizes range from 60mm to 825mm diameter; there are seven lengths and over 150 pre-designed motor windings (240Vac or 480Vac operation). Additional motor windings can be offered to allow optimised performance at lower voltages such as 12 or 24Vdc. Each frame size is available with up to three or four stack lengths and feature fully encapsulated stator windings for superior thermal and environmental performance. Internal windings are rated for continuous duty operation up to 155°C.
Continuous torque ratings are from 1.45Nm to 3,445Nm and peak torque ranges from 4.91Nm up to 12,812Nm (maximum power from 550W to 18.5kW) Speeds available at rated power are from 105rpm to 18,600rpm.
