Gasket material raises the bar for high temperature sealing applications
25 October 2011
Garlock Sealing Technologies has introduced a new gasket material for high-temperature sealing applications. Capable of withstanding temperatures up to 1000°C, THERMa-PUR is already being successfully used to seal connectors in bio-mass gasification, marine and land based exhaust systems and mineral and fertiliser processing.

Comprising a combination of raw materials and a novel fibre core, THERMa-PUR is easier to handle than conventional high temperature gasket material which use steel cores. THERMa-PUR is available in a wide range of configurations including sheet, Kammprofile and corrugated metal gaskets. Tests have proved the material's efficient sealing ability when thermally cycled at temperature up to 1,000°C and, because of its non-oxidising formulation and fibre core, it provides improved weight loss characteristics compared with other high temperature materials.
THERMa-PUR has hydrophobic properties making it safe to hydro test the system to full pressure and temperature. The new material does not stick to flanges making release quick and easy.
