IndraDrive motors and drives: now safer and more intelligent

01 August 2006

In addition to drive-integrated motion logic based on the IEC 61131-3 standard, Rexroth's IndraDrive also offers advanced integrated safety functions for 'safe standstill' and 'safe motion'. This technology, which is EN-954-1, Category 3 compliant, avoids the need for additional hardware, simplifying installation. Basic software packages for servo-drive operation include positioning batch processing, position control, speed control and torque control, while expansion packages include axis error correction, main spindle functions, axis synchronisation and electronic camshaft. IndraDrive supports all common industrial networks, including Sercos, Profibus, ProfiNET, CANopen, and DeviceNet, as well as analogue and parallel interfaces.

In addition, Rexroth can provide high-performance motors featuring direct drive technology. The latest development is the Rexroth IndraDyn H high-speed synchronous motor, which is claimed to provide the highest torque in its class, reaching speeds of 30,000 rpm. Meanwhile, Rexroth's IndraDyn T torque motors offer a maximum torque of up to 13,700Nm at speeds of up to 1,200rpm and run with an extremely low torque ripple.

On the linear motor front, the new IndraDyn L synchronous unit can be supplied in various sizes and lengths, in a field-proven, standard encapsulation. For high temperature operation, the entire motor range is available with thermal encapsulation
