Product Design + Innovation conference - back at ExCel, London in May
25 November 2011
Back by demand, the second annual Product Design + Innovation Conference (ExCel, London on 29 and 30 May 2012), will explore how product designers can drive economic growth. Chaired by Kevin McCullagh, director of Plan, a product strategy consultancy, this two-day conference dedicated to industrial design, will feature speakers with design experience for leading brands in the UK and abroads.

“As the West faces an era of stagnation, the mantra 'doing more with less' is likely to define the challenge for innovators in the years to come,” says Kevin McCullagh. “At the same time new developments, such as the fusion of manufacturing and services, the consumerisation of healthcare, and the emergence of smart systems and infrastructure present fresh opportunities for designers.”
Shared learning is at the essence of the conference with sessions developed specifically to address the barriers that exist between consultancies and in-house design teams as well as other functions such as engineering and marketing. Insight will be delivered as genuine brand case studies, debates, pecha kucha sessions and panel discussions, and delegates will have several opportunities to network.
Product Design + Innovation is aimed at senior product designers as well as innovation professionals working for a brand owners, OEMs or consultancies. Delegates attending Product Design + Innovation will also have free access to the co-located Plastics Design & Moulding conference and exhibition (pdm 12).
Further details including the speaker programme and registration will be published here shortly.
The conference is supported by British Design Innovation (BDI), the Institution of Engineering Designers (IED) and the Innovation Leadership Forum, together with media partner DEVELOP3D magazine. Verband Deutscher Industrie Designer (VDID) in Germany is an international supporting partner.
