Siemens Congleton celebrates 40th anniversary

13 December 2011

Siemens Congleton is celebrating its 40th anniversary with its busiest and most successful year to date. The plant was established in 1971 and is now Siemens’ global hub for manufacturing variable speed drives, which it exports to 78 countries across the world. Over the past 40 years, it has gone from strength to strength and its current 500 employees are reported to be enjoying an outstanding period of growth.

Finbarr Dowling, managing director of Siemens Congleton, comments: “Celebrating this important milestone is highly appropriate. To have survived and thrived in an increasingly competitive global electronics market is definitely 'bucking the trend' in the UK currently. That we should find ourselves leading the world in our chosen field and exporting our products to 78 countries is a tribute to the magnificent efforts of all the colleagues who work or have worked at the Siemens Congleton site since 1971. Our priority now is to leverage the outstanding engineering and manufacturing talents at Congleton and drive on for future success.”

Siemens Congleton’s staff include 60 research and development engineers and 70% of these have been at the company for at least 10 years.

The site produces 1.3 million products a year which enables its customers to save around four million tonnes of CO2.
