Versatile I/O at minimum outlay

21 March 2012

Mitsubishi Electric’s range of process I/O has been strengthened with the launch of the ST Lite series, a powerful addition to the Melsec ST series. With approvals already granted for a wide range of industrial and marine automation applications, the ST Lite is smaller and more cost effective than the ST series, easier to configure, and works with all major fieldbus protocols.

The ST series is a complete remote I/O system using plug-in electronics modules, offering precise configuration for practically any application. ST stands for Slicetype Terminal, offering hot swapping technology, gold-plated contacts, and coded modules that prevent insertion errors.

ST Lite takes the range further. To suit the needs of modern distributed fieldbus systems, ST Lite can be deployed with two, four, or eight channels in a single module. Head stations are available for the leading fieldbus protocols including Profibus DP, CC-Link, and Ethernet, making ST Lite truly fieldbus-agnostic.

These versatile devices have configuration options for digital and analogue inputs/outputs, and will accommodate different voltages, powers and signals on a single fieldbus node. Nodes have been designed to simplify any switch to new fieldbus standards, making ST Lite a safe investment.

Above all, of course, is reliability. ST Lite can be deployed in light or heavy-duty environments, and offers automatic contacting through the respected Cage Clamp spring terminals for input/output point connections.

There is practically no limit to the range of applications for which ST Lite is suitable. Optimised for efficient communication, with scalable performance and high integration density, these devices reduce hardware and systems overheads to a minimum while maintaining the excellent reputation for performance and reliability for which Mitsubishi Electric is justly famous.
