An efficient 250W convection cooled power supply for the medical industry
09 May 2012
The CCB250 series of highly efficient single output 250W ac-dc power supplies from XP Power provide an operating efficiency of up to 95%, thus generating very little waste heat and needing no forced air cooling. The series achieves an absolute minimum efficiency of 90% with a 90Vac input at full load.
Meeting the demands of the latest IEC60601-1 3rd edition medical safety standards, the CCB250 complies with 2 x MOPP (Means Of Patient Protection) and offers the complete risk management files, thus removing the burden and expense typically placed on the end product designer in achieving product compliance. The series also complies with the requirements of BF (body floating) applications. For IT and industrial applications the range is approved to IEC60950-1.
The series operates from a wide input range of 80 – 275Vac, in an ambient of – 20 degrees C to + 70 degrees C, with no derating until + 50 degrees C. The CCB250 has a peak power capability of up to 300W for a maximum of 500ms, allowing the delivery of a short-term higher current, such as may be needed when starting motors. Measuring just 101.6 x 152.4 x 38.1mm, the open frame CCB250 series fits into a 1U space.
The series comprises six models providing the nominal outputs of +12, +15, +24, + 28, +36 or +48Vdc. A trim function provides the ability to adjust the output +/- 3% to accommodate line losses. An additional + 5Vdc/0.5A always-on output can be used to power memory, logic or control functions. Control signals include power fail and remote on/off.
The CCB250 is available direct from XP Power and comes with a three-year warranty.
