New Aseptic Dispense Valve Brings Accuracy And Low Maintenance To Sterile Filling Operations

21 November 2005

The new 754V-SS valve is a precision dispense valve with an aseptic design that reduces the risk of contamination in sterile fluid filling processes. Typical uses include filling contact lens packages with saline, dispensing monomers into lens moulds, filling vials with drugs, and small volume food and beverage applications.

The 754V-SS uses a unique, low-maintenance diaphragm design to provide fast, precise dispensing of most low- to medium-viscosity fluids. It can be cycled up to 500 times per minute, with shot size ranging from 0.5 micro litres to a continuous flow rate of 60 micro litres per second.

A fast, clean cut off after each shot prevents drips and waste. To ensure sterility and simplify cleaning, the valve's fluid path is smooth and free of areas where contaminants or bacteria could collect.

Wetted parts are made of FDA-compliant 316L stainless steel and PTFE (PolyTetraFluoroEthylene) suitable for Clean in Place or Sterilize in Place processes. Instead of seals or O-rings that could wear out and leak, the 754V-SS uses an inert PTFE (PolyTetraFluoroEthylene) diaphragm, conservatively rated at 108 cycles, to isolate the fluid from the valve's internal parts.

Valve operation is regulated with a ValveMate(tm) controller. Mounted near the valve, the controller simplifies system set up, operation and maintenance, and can be easily interfaced with an existing PLC.

The controller's digital display also makes it simple to document spray system settings for process control purposes. The amount of fluid dispensed is determined by a combination of fluid pressure, flow rate and valve open time, with open time regulated with a microprocessor-based ValveMate(tm) controller.

Mounted near the valve, the controller simplifies system set up and allows open time to be adjusted in increments as small as 0.001 seconds, for exceptionally precise and consistent shots. Compact, lightweight, and simple to install, the 754V-SS valve is ideal for automated assembly machines, XYZ tables, and retrofits on current production lines.
