On their bikes for 'Make it in Great Britain'

05 July 2012

Siemens MD Juergen Maier, Sir Richard Leese of Manchester City Council and Will Butler Adams, MD of Brompton Bikes, arrived at the Siemens 'Make it in Great Britain' VIP event at the Manchester Convention Complex on the new Brompton Bikes. Manufactured in the UK, the bikes will be used across Manchester as part of the new cycle scheme that will see the compact bikes available for hire from Piccadilly Station.

Following their arrival, Will Butler Adams and Juergen Maier joined a panel of leaders in manufacturing to discuss the critical role UK manufacturing will play in helping ensure Britain's economic prosperity.

Juergen Maier, managing director of Siemens Industry UK, commented: “Brompton Bikes is an example of a growing and successful UK manufacturer and it's great that their innovative products are bringing benefits to both people and the environment in cities across the UK.

"We are proud that they are made in Great Britain and as the volumes are increasing we are delighted to be engaging on how our automation technology will improve the manufacturing productivity –  this event is about highlighting the need to invest in our industrial infrastructure and ensuring that all UK manufacturers can realise their full potential by bringing industry together to focus on the key priorities for growth."
