Omron delivers high performance and simplicity in temperature control
13 July 2012
With their large easy-to-read displays, fast simple set up and 50 ms control period, next generation temperature controllers in Omron’s innovative E5CC/E5EC range set new standards in the key areas of accuracy, user friendliness and control performance. The compact units, which project only 60 mm behind the panel, are also easy to accommodate and install, even in cramped locations.
The large high-contrast white LED display featured by the new controllers provides exceptional clarity and can be read from a distance and from almost any angle, irrespective of the ambient lighting conditions. This not only maximises convenience for users, but also virtually eliminates the risk of reading errors.
Setting up the controllers is made easy by the incorporation of auto-tuning algorithms, and by Omron’s new CX-Thermo support software that has been specifically developed for use with the E5CC/E5EC series of products. This intuitive software enables faster parameter setting and straightforward device adjustment as well as greatly simplifying maintenance. A timesaving shift key is also provided on the controller front panel to allow rapid adjustment of set values and easy access to functions like auto-tuning and run/stop.
Accurate and responsive control is assured by the fast 50 ms control period of the new controllers and by the use of Omron’s 2-PID control algorithm. This powerful and patented algorithm provides enhanced control stability, which, in process applications, guarantees consistent product quality. For less demanding applications, the E5CC/E5EC controllers also support simple on/off control.
To maximise their versatility, the controllers incorporate a range of new features. These include a timer function, a heat and cool PID function, a set-point ramp function, enhanced alarm mode and enhanced manual output. These features are complemented by a remote set-point input, a transfer output, an event input and an auxiliary output.
