Intelligent stepper motor controller/driver
28 August 2012
The TMCM-1060 is an intelligent stepper motor controller/driver module that makes use of 'coolStep' technology for sensorless load dependent current control. It is available in the UK and Eire from Micromech.

The module can be mounted directly on a 57mm or 60mm flange QMot stepper motor, converting it into a compact mechatronic device with bus oriented or stand-alone control.
The TMCM-1060 comes with the PC based software development environment TMCL-IDE for the Trinamic Motion Control Language (TMCL). Using predefined TMCL high level commands like ‘move to position’ or ‘constant rotation’ a rapid and fast development of motion control applications is guaranteed.
The TMCM-1060 can be controlled using a serial interface and communication traffic is kept very low since all time critical operations are performed onboard. The TMCL programme can be stored in the onboard EEPROM for stand-alone operation and the module firmware can be updated via the serial interface.
Features include 51,200 positions/rev, memory for 2,048 TMCL commands and automatic ramp generation. Motion parameters (position, velocity, acceleration) can be altered on the fly, while an integral 'spreadCycle' chopper improved smoothness and high speed operation. The device also includes a microPlyer internal microstep multiplier (16 to 256 µSteps).
