High corrosion-resistant level sensor at a competitive price
03 September 2012
For most level sensors, application boundaries are set by the resistance of the wetted parts to aggressive media, and the sensors selected are built from special and costly materials.

In some instances the materials used can limit the performance of the sensitive membranes used for hydrostatic measuring sensors. To prevail over these problems, the German sensor specialist ADZ NAGANO, represented exclusively in the UK by Variohm EuroSensor, has developed its PS1 series level and point sensors that use a high quality stainless steel casing with an optional PTFE coating - offering increased durability for particularly aggressive media at reasonable cost.
ADZ's patented electron beam process deposits a PTFE layer between 0.5 to 1 microns thick which has no adverse performance influence on the stainless steel membrane and thin-film semiconductor diaphragm technology used for the PS1. In addition, the smooth plastic coating improves the contamination resistance of the IP68 rated sensor and significantly extends the cleaning intervals required for maintenance.
The PS1 series boasts an accuracy class of 0.5 percent fs and covers measurement ranges from 0.1 to 25bar with standard output signals of 4-20mA, and 3-wire 0-10V and 0-5V. From an operating voltage between 12 and 30Vdc and a media temperature range of -40°C to 85°C, the sensor equally suits level and point measurement in waterways as well as tanks and vats.
Where more aggressive media is used, the PTFE option offers substantial additional protection and ADZ NAGANO has also developed a new sealing system between the pressure compensated power cable and housing that further improves performance.
Variohm EuroSensor provides complete pre-sale and post-sale application support across the ADZ NAGANO range, which includes sensors for temperature, pressure, and flow. Variohm also designs, develops and sources a broad range of position, load, force, and other sensor technologies for demanding measurement applications throughout industry, agriculture, construction, autosports, and research.
