The Institution of Engineering and Technology (IET) is in the final stages of a feasibility project for a comprehensive refurbishment of its London venue at Savoy Place. During the proposed refurbishment, the IET is seeking a temporary headquarters, including member facilities, events, library and meetings between mid-2013 and mid-2015. The Institution of Mechanical Engineers (IMechE) is offering to share its headquarters building at One Birdcage Walk in London for this purpose.

The co-location at One Birdcage Walk will include shared IMechE and IET library facilities, members’ business centre and a new lounge for members. Both institutions intend to maintain their current volume of meetings, lectures and events together at One Birdcage Walk.

A joint statement issued by the institutions said that the temporary co-location will also enable the pursuit of closer working on such activities as accreditation, government policy advice, education and events.
