Interface module enables precise real-time communication in torque measurement

13 April 2013

HBM has launched the TIM-EC EtherCAT interface with digital data transmission for the complete T40 family of torque transducers.

The TIM-EC interface enables torque and speed to be precisely acquired simultaneously and integrated in real-time in control and automation systems.

TIM-EC supports a sampling rate of up to 20,000 measured values per second on the bus. It is characterized by a low group delay of approximately 100µs, and rapid data transmission without interference signals.

Signals are transmitted digitally and without loss of accuracy and both the angle of rotation and the performance can also be captured with this highly flexible device.

The TIM-EC is fitted with an integrated web server that facilitates the diagnosis and parameterization of data via standard browsers so that no separate software is required.

The module is suitable for a wide range of applications in field-bus based automation and control systems. These include function test benches and test benches for electric and combustion engines, gears, pumps and compressors.

The launch of the TIM-EC underlines HBM’s commitment to remain at the forefront of the development of highly accurate Ethernet-based interfaces for test bench construction.
