A decentralised IP65 enclosed drive for larger plant applications

24 May 2013

The Lenze 8400 protec is a decentralised frequency inverter for wall mounting that reduces build costs, lowers operating costs and minimises downtime. It is designed for applications in larger materials handling plants.

Suitable for motors in the range 0.37 to 4.0kW, the robustly constructed 8400 protec with modular options will reduce installation costs by establishing a local station for processing signals. Standard features include analogue and digital I/O, plus PID loop control capability. PLC function with programming to IEC 61131-3 is available as an option.

The 8400 protec starting torque of 200% is delivered through smooth S-ramps. Customers can choose safety options STO & SS1, which can speed production by allowing operators safe and rapid access for machine settings.

The unit will also benefit from Lenze's VFC eco software, a switchable standard option that can reduce energy costs by up to 30 percent when motors are running lightly loaded.

Motor protection is standard and LED diagnostic displays help reduce fault location time.  Changing a drive is quick and easy, thanks to plugged connections and a removable memory module that transfers programs without having to call in a software engineer.
