Lightweight, short-range displacement sensors with integral display

30 June 2013

The SICK OD Mini displacement sensor achieves micron resolution and millisecond response in a rugged, compact and lightweight package.

The OD Mini’s CMOS receiver avoids problems of false readings due to the brightness, colour or reflectivity of the object’s surface. The sensor is available in two rugged IP67 18x31x41mm casings made from stainless steel (70g) and aluminium (40g).

Three detection ranges are available from 10mm to 20mm, 20mm to 60mm and 60mm to 150mm with resolutions of 3µm, 8µm and 30µm respectively. A response time of 1ms for each range is achievable.

The OD Mini is quick to commission and easy to operate thanks to an integral display with four status LEDs. It can be programmed via a simple 'teach' procedure, or remotely via PC or other factory controller.

The device can be integrated with a wide range of industrial interfaces. Digital, analogue or serial interfaces are available to suit the application and the control context.
