Dassault Systèmes helps Czech designers create a flying bike

Three Czech companies have got together to prototype a flying bicycle, and Dassault Systèmes' 3DExperience Platform proved crucial to the project.
The journey from an idea to the take-off started a year and a half ago. The driving force behind the project was not profit or commercial interest, but the fulfilment of a childhood dream.
The team of three partnering companies Technodat, Duratec and Evektor led by Ales Kobylik of Technodat set themselves the objective – to design an attractive and practical product and create its prototype.
Dassault Systèmes technology (in particular, its 3DExperience Platform) made it possible to design and manufacture the bike, and to test it and simulate its properties virtually.
All of the Flying Bike creators, regardless of their location and even though they were several hundred kilometres distant from one another, simultaneously worked on the same 3D data models.
After considering various alternatives, the designers chose the 'multicopter' principle for flight. The Flying Bike becomes airborne powered by the thrust of six horizontal propellers.

Drive: 4× main motors 10kW, placed in opposed pairs at the front and rear; 2× stabilisation motors 7kW, placed on turnable consoles at the sides of the bike
Propellers: main propellers , diameter 1,200mm, maximum speed 2,200rpm, stabilisation propellers, diameter 650mm, the propellers are surrounded by composite casings
Energy: set of Li-Pol accumulators with total capacity 50Ah
Bike frame: welded parts made of light alloy (duralumin)
Dimensions: approx. 3,800mm (length) × 2,500mm (width) × 1,200 mm (height)
Weight: 95kg without a pilot
Maximum laden weight: 170 kg
Flight time: 5 minutes
Maximum speed: 50km/h
