Power line EMI filters for photovoltaic installations

04 August 2013

CD Automation has introduced a family of dc power line filters supporting 1,500V photovoltaic panels. The new EMI filters maximise the operating dc voltage to the limit of the European Union’s Low Voltage Directive.

The inverter filters allow for both single- and multi-stage performance options, to mitigate the effects of electromagnetic interference (EMI). Their high voltage means they have lower current, thereby minimising losses due to heat dissipation.

The dc filter is installed between the solar photovoltaic panel and the inverter, thus helping to control conducted emissions on the panel side of the system. It also protects the solar panel from HF stray and leakage currents which can cause premature ageing of the photovoltaic modules.
