New Range Of Cutting Machines
01 June 2001
Isle of Wight based Spectrum Robotic Systems has a new range of cutting
machines with guidance systems, drives and motors all supplied by Rexroth
companies, Star and Indramat. The single supplier package was chosen for
ease of systems integration and Rexroth’s worldwide support capability.
The machines use Star’s ball rail system to carry the cutting head
horizontally around the table, while a Star CKK compact module provides
the vertical movement. Indramat’s drive and control system interfaces to
a standard Windows NT PC for operator programming.
Spectrum machines can be fitted with a variety of cutting tools,
including lasers, water jet cutters and more conventional tools. One of
the first machines out of the factory has been exported to Canada, where
it will be employed to make aerospace components from Kevlar composite.
