IP65 protected isolators are padlockable

08 December 2013

Switchtec's SCL IS series rotary isolators can be used as the main on/off switch or as an isolating switch for general isolating duties, or as emergency padlockable on/off switches in the contractor and control industries.

Suitable for outdoor use, the SCL isolators are protected to IP65, and are available in 20A, 32A, 40A, 63A, 80A and 100A ac three or four pole, and 25A DC double pole models. The ac switches are fitted with a red and yellow padlockable handle, and the dc switches are fitted with a grey and black padlockable handle. This makes it easy for maintenance staff to rapidly identify AC and DC isolators.

All isolator handles are padlockable in the 'off' position and are door Interlocked, so that for safety reasons the enclosures cannot be opened in the 'on' position.

Depending on their rating and type, the IS switches are supplied in four enclosure sizes.  In terms of the ac units, the 20A and 32A units are in 125 x 100 x 122mm enclosures, the 40A and 63A are in 175 x 115 x 136mm enclosures, the 80A and 100A are in 240 x 160 x 115mm enclosures and the dc version is supplied in a 160 x 85 x 114mm enclosure.

All SCL IS ac and dc switch enclosures come with plenty of knockouts, making installation quick and easy.  Also for ease of installation, the enclosures are spacious internally, and are supplied with additional earth and neutral terminals.

The IS enclosed switches are supplied with self-retaining plastic screws to secure the lid to the base.  Switchtec specified plastic screws, ensuring that the IP65 rating is maintained.

All switches conform to EN 60947-1, EN 60947-3, EN 60947-5-1 and EN 60204-1 and are CE marked.
