Crouzet launches new 'intelligent' motor package
Crouzet has married its popular 'Millenium II' micro PLC and brushless dc
motor series to create an 'intelligent' motor package called Motomate.
Available with or without an integrated reduction gearbox (right angle
helical bevel or inline planetary), the new product is compact and easy
to install. It also requires much less in the way of wiring and
additional components when implementing simple positioning applications
such as automated door and barrier actuators, small capacity conveying
systems and moving billboards.
Motomate has its own 12 pulse/revolution internal encoder, so the
integral eight I/O capacity Millenium logic controller is able to signal
forward, reverse, speed, accelerate, decelerate, stop, start and timing
commands without having to rely on information from position sensors or
limit switches. In its simplest configuration, apart from motor power,
the only other input required is a start command - for example, a PIR
sensor output in a door actuator application.
Positioning commands and sequences are programmed via a PC using an
intuitive function block style programming package. The device can even
be programmed to back-off, if the driven element encounters an
obstruction, to ramp up at start and to decelerate gently as the final
position is reached. The spare I/O capacity can also be used if
additional sensors are required to fulfil more complex positioning tasks.
There's a choice of motor rating - 30 or 80W. The 80W version provides up
to 8Nm via a right-angle gearbox, up to 50Nm through a planetary gearbox.
Crouzet claims a 20,000 hour life for its brushless dc motors, which
makes the new Motomate an attractive option for remote and unmanned
applications.
