Next-generation safety control from Wieland

15 February 2015

The new samosPRO COMPACT from Wieland Electric is a compact safety controller that offers all of the benefits associated with much larger and more complex products in a unit measuring only 45mm in width.

samosPRO COMPACT provides up to 20 safe inputs and eight safe outputs utilising four switchable safe in/outputs. The system can be extended with additional modules to as many as 116 secure inputs and 56 secure outputs and any number in between.

The device works in conjunction with Wieland’s project planning tool, samos PLAN5+, to provide a library of up to 300 reliable, certified function blocks, both standard and safety, providing solutions to complex safety tasks, with the option to develop user defined function blocks. Configurable project documentation can be achieved at the press of a button.

The simulation function with integrated logic analyser enables a check of the programmed safety functions without the hardware being present, which assists with problem solving and saves time during development and commissioning. Integrated USB, Ethernet and Modbus interfaces enable greater flexible access to the safety system, providing the user with more transparency during project planning and operation.

Designed for tough environments, samosPRO COMPACT has an operational temperature range of -25°C - +65°C and is capable of switching loads of up to 4A (solid state switching) at each individual output of the system, thus offering an alternative to contactors and relays in many applications.

All inputs and outputs have an individual display providing easy fault diagnostics, while remote maintenance is achievable using the integrated online diagnosis and the system log book to localise problems. All modules are available with removable screw or push-in terminal blocks.
