Flexible linear and rotational stages from PI miCos

07 June 2015

The new Q-Motion series from PI miCos enables linear, rotation and goniometer stages to be easily combined, resulting in a compact and affordable multi-axis positioning system with nanometre resolution.

The 22mm wide and 10mm high Q-522 series stages can be optionally equipped with a linear encoder with a resolution of 1nm. This allows the miniaturised stages to achieve a minimum incremental motion of just 2nm with a repeatability of 25nm.

The Q-522 can be mounted in XY orientation without an adapter and extended to a Z axis with help of a bracket. Three travel range versions are available up to 26mm.

It is also possible to mount the miniature rotation stages of the Q-622 series without an adapter plate. They have a footprint of 22mm x 22mm, while an optional integrated incremental encoder enables the Q-622 to achieve a resolution of 0.01µrad.

The system provides a linear velocity of 10mm/s, and rotational speed of up to 70°/s. Due to self-locking at rest feature, the piezo motor requires no holding current. It keeps its position with a holding force of 1N or a holding torque of 6mNm.

The Q-Motion series is also available for vacuum and non-magnetic applications.
