Metallized Carbon offers materials ideal for mechanical seals in aircraft shaft applications, including main shaft seals for aircraft turbine engines and aircraft auxiliary power units (APUs).

Mechanical seals with antimony impregnated, carbon-graphite primary rings and solid silicon carbide counter face rings are suitable for sealing refrigerants and other low viscosity liquids.

Metallized Carbon Corporation's Metcar Grade M-58 has received approval from the FDA for use in food contact applications.  This will permit the use of Metcar Grade M-58 in dry running, food mixer seals to provide lower seal friction and longer seal wear life.

Metallized Carbon Corporation has introduced Silver Metcar, a silver impregnated, carbon-graphite material for electrical applications that require low resistance, low voltage drop, and low electrical noise. The material is ideal for dc motor brushes, non-welding electrical contacts, rotary slip ring brushes or contacts in air traffic control radars, telecommunications systems, and satellite communications systems.

Metallized Carbon Corporation has introduced custom radial seal ring assemblies (or packing rings), which are used to prevent leakage from industrial blowers, pumps and other turbo machinery by sealing the clearance between a rotating or reciprocating shaft and the stationary housing. These seal rings are available in more than 150 grades of proprietary carbon/graphite material, and Metcar will work with customers to select the optimum grade for a specific application.

Metallized Carbon Corporation is offering Metcar mechanical seal primary rings and seal faces manufactured to specifications using highly engineered carbon-graphite materials. Metcar mechanical seal rings are ideal for sealing liquids such as water, hot water, acids, alkalis, fuels, oils, heat transfer fluids, liquefied gases, solvents and beverages. They are also ideal for sealing gases such as air, hot air, steam, inert gases and dry nitrogen.

Metallized Carbon Corporation has introduced a range of carbon-graphite ball valve seats for valves thathandle hot liquids or hot gases. The seats are available in more than 150 grades of Metcar’s proprietary carbon/graphite material and are suitable for use at temperatures from approximately 350°F, at which point plastic ball valve seats begin to soften. They can be used in fire safe petroleum industry ball valves, which must operate freely after a simulated fire test at elevated temperatures.
