Drives are leading industrial networking growth(12/03/2012)

The market for industrial networking is still strong, according to a new report from IMS Research. An estimated 31 million new fieldbus and Ethernet nodes were installed worldwide in 2011; this number is forecast to grow by an average of 10% a year, to just over 45 million new connected nodes in 2015. The report forecasts that, in EMEA and the Americas, new connected nodes will grow fastest in servo and inverter drives. Their grow rate will be 11.8% a year, resulting in 3.5

Asia Pacific to become largest DCS market by 2014(03/01/2012)

IMS Research predicts that Asia Pacific will overtake EMEA in 2014 to become the largest market for distributed control systems (DCS). Revenues from the regional market will reach around $7.3 billion in 2015, 37% of the global total. Until 2009, Asia Pacific was still the smallest regional DCS market. However it has grown quickly in the last few years, particularly in China and India.

Oil & gas industry powers sales for MV motor drives(16/11/2011)

Medium voltage (MV) drives sales into the oil & gas industry will outpace the market in 2011 due primarily to the high oil prices in 2010 and early 2011, increasing investment for production capacity expansion, according to a new study from IMS Research. Analyst Jenalea Howell says sales of MV motor drives into the oil & gas segment is predicted to continue increasing, as orders of this equipment during the second half of 2011 remain strong, only increasing current backlogs and growth for 2012.

Bright future predicted for Coriolis flowmeter technology(05/10/2011)

IMS Research forecasts coriolis flowmeters to overtake differential pressure flowmeters as the largest flowmeter market by 2014, replacing magnetic flowmeters as the second largest market by 2012. Manufacturers of coriolis flowmeters strive to find added value in their design and functionality. The main areas for advanced technological differentiation are through the inclusion of remote diagnostics and the ability to measure greater line sizes.

Machine vision revenues show signs of slowing, says IMS(02/08/2011)

The growth in machine vision revenues shows signs of slowing, according to John Morse, a senior analyst at IMS Research. He says that this was not entirely unexpected following the dramatic recovery from recession during 2010. Quoting from IMS Research’s Machine Vision 2011 report, he had estimated that during 2010 global revenues grew by nearly 40%, fully recovering from the devastating fall during 2009.

MV soft starter market set for double-digit growth this year, says IMS(05/07/2011)

The worldwide market for medium voltage soft starters was worth an estimated $170 million in 2010, with more than 5,000 units shipped during the year. Sales of these products contracted significantly in 2009 as a result of the global economic downturn, and the market recovery in 2010 was very gradual. However, high commodity prices and robust demand from regions like Asia Pacific and the Middle East are expected to help the market grow by nearly 10% in 2011, says IMS Research.

Harmonic standards will stimulate growth for related equipment in Asia(14/06/2011)

Demand for harmonics mitigation equipment in the Asia Pacific region is poised to grow by 17.8% in 2011, according to a new report, The World Market for Regenerative Drives & Low Harmonic Solutions from IMS Research. China, in particular, will grow across many different industry sectors, unlike other developed countries that focus harmonic standards on specific industries, such as water & wastewater and commercial HVAC.

Packaging machine builders favour 'integrated' motors says IMS(17/05/2011)

Integrated motors sales into the packaging industry are forecasted to continue growing after a 48.8% growth in 2010, according to a new study, The World Market for Integrated Motors, from IMS Research. The majority of integrated motors are incorporated into new machine designs and, coupled with a 14.6% increase in global packaging machinery production in 2010, the integrated motors market drew significant benefits.

Industrial Ethernet set to increase strongly in China’s booming sectors says IMS(04/05/2011)

The market for Ethernet infrastructure components in Chinese industry is set to grow strongly, but the opportunity will vary with the strength of the vertical sector. According to a new report from IMS Research, nearly $120 million worth of industrial Ethernet infrastructure components were sold in China in 2009, growing with an estimated 20% more in 2010. IMS analyst Alex Hong says the demand for Ethernet components will continue to grow "explosively".

IMS expects LV ac motor revenues to double by 2014(03/02/2011)

By 2014, IMS Research forecasts that the market for low voltage integral horsepower ac motors will more than double in revenues to $19.4 billion compared with 2009, when the global market was estimated to have contracted by over 20%. Unit shipments are expected to grow steadily at double-digit rates, reaching 51.6 million units at that time. The revenue growth will be driven by regional legislation mandating sales of higher efficiency (and thus) more expensive motors.
